Job Interview Report Fashion Industry Worker

In this age of freedom and equality, everyone has the right to choose what he yearns for and loves as his career. In this generation of advocating personal will, different industries are born. And today, I want to introduce “Fashion Industry Worker”.

Fashion Industry Worker
“The Devil Wears Prada” has been shown on TV countless times. Some people may feel tired of watching it, but since its release, the film has been constantly influencing people and inspiring more and more people to enter the fashion industry. But what is the fashion industry? Is it really just costumes, parties and celebrities? What kind of capabilities are needed to enter the fashion industry? What about force?

In this generation when everything can be true, it may be simpler to enter the fashion industry than before. Some positions do not need to graduate from the Department of fashion design, but can also be competent. Especially in today's internet-developed society, the fashion industry is quite short of talents with both IT capabilities and aesthetic sense.

Many people dream of stepping into a fashion industry that looks bright and beautiful, fantasizing about elegant work, high-heeled shoes, dressed in fine clothes, and seeing super stars. But the hard work content is that everyone has to train as a porter, carry and package goods without asking for people. It is common for people to come to the rehearsal hall early in the morning. With more work experience, there will be room for bargaining in the future, and it will be better in the field you love.

And it should be noted that fashion brands usually do not pay interns, but mainly provide car and horse fares or food allowances. Especially in luxury brands abroad, long queues of people want to be interns, and a large number of people accept unpaid and high-pressure jobs, especially before the clothing show is published. If you want to get an early glimpse of fashion circle through your internship, learning and giving is the only chance to make progress towards your dream. It also can be said in “The hourly salary is not high but the working hours are high”, because whether it’s a designer or a salesman, you need to be standby when then brand need you.

Details Of The Job
The basic monthly salary for this job is about NT$20,000 to NT$50,000 when you first start. But when you are already well known in the fashion world, your monthly salary is likely to look up to hundreds of thousands or even millions. This shows that the salary range of fashion industry is quite wide. And vacation and working hours are also not as pleasant or as regular as you like. The fashion industry is known for its high hours, low salaries and low wages. As I mentioned earlier, when a brand needs you, you have to be on standby. And the most important question that everyone are concerned about is: For this job, there are more girls or more boys? Actually, advocating equality between boys and girls, the number of the boys and girls are same in this generation.

About interviewee
The interviewee that I interview in this time, his name is Eric Ko. 22 years old and study in International trade in YZU. And now doing a part time job in “Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton”.

About Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton
“Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton”, also known as “LVMH”, is the world's largest multinational luxury goods complex. It is headquartered in Paris on “Fortune” magazine's Top 500 list. The company was founded in 1987 by the merger of fashion brand Louis Vuitton and Moët Hennessy, while Moët Hennessy was merged in 1971 by champagne maker Moët and Cognac maker Hennessy. The group controls about 60 subsidiaries, each of which manages a small number of highly prestigious brands. These subsidiaries usually operate independently.

The brand under Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton
Brands include Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Fendi, and so on.

The Interview
Eric Ko job is not only “salesman” that simple, he also to serve as activity planning, sales products, reception of the guests, site control, brand guide. He said that he want to work in high fashion industry when he first time walk in to luxury brand stores. Because he likes the atmosphere surrounded by carefully designed objects. But besides this, he also wants to accumulate his own social experience, so that he can experience the hardship of society and hone his abilities earlier. And the main reason that Eric Ko for choosing high-quality fashion industry is that High-quality industry will not be saturated, because people’s desire for material things is endless. And after he be engaged in this job, he had a new understanding for the fashion industry, that fashion industry looks bright and neat but it’s actually very hard. First of all, the most intuitive salary bar, fashion circle is mainly divided into four parts: procurement, public relations, editing and design. The salaries of these four occupations are usually the highest in procurement, and then in public relations. The lowest is usually editing and design (of course, the salary will be high if famous). Although there are scores, compared with other industries, the salary of fashion circle is often higher. They are the lowest. In addition, integration into fashion culture usually means the following social agenda in fashion: dinners, parties and other activities. The industry's emphasis on "perfection" tends to be limited to extremely narrow aesthetic standards, which may also exacerbate people's pressure. "You must always be perfect, always be responsive, strive to socialize, and constantly attend parties." Drinking with some people. But the next day, you still have to get up and work on time. Yes, it's hard for people to maintain this amount of energy, lifestyle and creativity. You have to face bosses who live only for image and managers who love to steal the limelight. To be prepared for endless creative proposals and setbacks to be rejected and shot, things will always change at the last moment. The movie " The Devil Wears Prada " may seem exaggerated, but it more or less reflects the real industry. On the one hand, 24 hours are on standby. In this extremely subjective world, there are endless cases of "judging people by their appearance", even because of other people's clothes, appearance, family background, temperament and magnetic field. Many external factors make your life more miserable.
